Word Count is a free word counter. The program batch counts words in a given list of files. The tool can handle several file types such as Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word 2003 documents (DOC), Microsoft Word 2007 (DOCX), Rich Text Format (RTF) and Text Documents (TXT). The tools control has an option alternative. It has a list of document types the program can handle and you can uncheck the types you do not want to be processed. Other controls on the simple interface include creation of a batch list of files to be processed. Erasing the complete list is also possible. The file option only has one command, that of exiting from the program. The help button also has just one option “About” the software (which is just a link to the publisher’s site).
This kind of minimality with such a minimal functionality makes you wonder what the real purpose of the publishers was! Apparently it is to draw your attention to the translation service offered by the publisher. When you go to home page from the product page on the site that also leads you to this page. This page unfortunately does not even mention the product except the translation service alone. That seems to be the clear purpose, to draw traffic to their translation service. Whether the product is actually available is anyone`s guess.
